Vandories Eugene Slater, a native of Mobile, Alabama, departed this earthly home Saturday, October 24, 2020.
He was a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Norvel Glover. Vandories graduated from Blount High School. He served in the US Navy for 17 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie A. Slater, grandmothers, Mary Davis and Rosie Slater, grandfather, Sidney Davis, aunts, Arnett Williams, Ethel Campbell, Annie Pearl Jordon, Flora Davis, uncle, Sidney Davis, Jr., and grandmother-in-law, Betty L. Rainwater.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Amanda Slater; five (5) sons, Terrell Javaun, Eugene Lamont, Dante Vandories, Caleb Micheal and Eugene Slater; one grandson, Zaywan Slater; one granddaughter, Tiara Slater; a loving and devoted mother, Jennett Slater; one sister, Rose (Robert) Craft); brothers, Willie Slater and Larry Slater; four (4) aunts, Lula English, Betty Davis, Martha Gooden and Dorothy Nicholes; three (uncles), Ernestine (Carolyn) Davis, L.C. Williams and Johnny Davis; and a host of nieces and other relatives and friends; two special friends, Harold Muse and Joseph Golf.
