Isaac Simmons Obituary

Brother Isaac Alphonse Simmons was born October 10, 1932 in Mobile, Alabama.  He departed this life and entered in eternal rest on January 20, 2021 at his residence in Coden, Alabama.

He was the oldest son of the late Isaac Simmons, Sr., and Josephine C. Whitfield Simmons.  He was preceded in death by his sibling: Autherine S. Inge, Clara Simmons Lovett, Louvert M. Simmons and Joseph Simmons.

He was a resident of Coden, Alabama for several years.  He united in Holy Matrimony with Elise D. Simmons and to this union two children were born.  He joined Coleman Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and was a lifelong member of Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Rev. Howard Nelson, Sr., where he served as a Deacon.  He retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding.  He also provided construction services in the surrounding area as Simmons Construction.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving devoted wife Elsie D. West Simmons; two sons, Ray Simmons and Roderick A. Simmons of Coden, Alabama; six (6) grandchildren, Frederick (Tammy) Rodney of Mobile, Alabama, Eddie Smith of Williston, North Dekota, Keith (Sherray) Smith of Houston, Texas, Everett (Torrance) Smith of Jackson, Mississippi, Verenda (Timothy) Watson of Theodore, Alabama and Lesha (John) Fisher of Houston, Texas; four (4) loving great-grand-children, King Young of Houston, Texas, Brody Smith, Brooklyn Watson and Blayze Watson of Theodore, Alabama; a host of great-great grandchildren; a devoted niece, Carolyn Nero of Pensacola, Florida; three loving sisters-in-law, Patricia West and Shirley (Doug) McClow, both of Mobile, Alabama, and Mary Jordan of Pennsylvania; a caring friend, Linda Mouton Delone of New Orleans, Louisiana, along with a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
