Essie McKinney Obituary

Missionary Essie M. McKinney was born October 8, 1929 to the late Mr. March James and the late Ms. Leola Hughes, both of Sunflower, Alabama.

At an early age, she came to Christ and became of member of New Bethel Holiness Church in Axis, Alabama, where she served faithfully for many years.  She later moved her membership to Pentecostal Way Ministries in Prichard, Alabama under the fellowship of Bishop Ralph C. Jones until God called her home.

She joined a female gospel group, “The Silver Lilies” as one of the leading singers.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Jacqueline E. Redman Mayle, her brother, A.C. James, and his sister, Earlene Chaney.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Mr. Johnnie (Lillian) James of Chickasaw, Alabama and Mr. Sandy Moore, Jr. of Detroit, Michigan; four daughters, Ms. Desta M. Haines of Detroit, Michigan, Ms. Sammie L. Moore of Pensacola, Florida, Ms. Barbara A. Clark of Moss Point, Mississippi, and Ms. Sandra M. Law and Ms. Cynthia (Larry) Bulford, both of Mobile, Alabama; one god-daughter, Trina Martin of Saraland, Alabama; two sisters, Ms. Ethel L. Merryweather and Ms. Eula Molette, both of Mobile, Alabama; one brother, Mr. Wilson (Geraldine) Hatfield of Houston, Texas; twenty (20 grandchildren and numerous of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
